Clinical Massage Techniques
Clinical Massage - differs from regular Massage and Bodywork in that the treatment is specifically directed to resolve conditions diagnosed by a medical doctor. I may use a variety of modalities or techniques during the treatment, but I focus the treatment only on the specific areas of the body related to the diagnosis. This enhances the body’s natural self-healing process and reduces the needed recovery time from injury.
Orthopedic massage - is a style of massage therapy focused on treating painful conditions that affect the soft tissues of the body. Because orthopedic massage is designed to treat medical conditions, it requires extensive training. It involves releasing tense muscles, helping to stretch and lengthen tight muscles and tendons, and decompress rigid joints. My goal is to restore full health to the soft tissues of your body, both treating your specific conditions as well as improving your overall well-being.
Myoskeletal Alignment - includes Working from the knowledge that the body’s myofascial and skeletal systems are inseparable. What affects one always affects the other. Accordingly, Myoskeletal Alignment focuses on treating stubborn pain conditions by mobilizing joints through muscle manipulation.
Trigger Point Therapy - with this style of bodywork I focus on stimulating and releasing “trigger points” in your body. Trigger points are tender areas of tension similar to acupressure points, except they occur in the belly of the muscle tissue rather than along the energy pathways of the body. These ‘knots’ are built up throughout a person’s life due to physical, mental, and/or emotional stress. During a session, I will apply focused pressure through a variety of techniques order to release your trigger points. This process can be uncomfortable at times, yet the effects are lasting and profoundly transformative.
Paul St. John Neuromuscular Therapy - I focus on restoring balance and ideal function to your the muscles and soft tissue. This involves specific as well as full body work. Using Trigger Point Therapy along with Myofascial Release to restore function and reduce overall pain patterns.
Deep Tissue Massage - Used to release deep layers of tension and chronic stress this technique is very similar to Trigger Point Therapy and Paul St. John's NMT. When I use deep tissue techniques I am very careful to use enough pressure that the body responds but not so much that you react by tensing up again.
A type of massage designed for highly active people who engage in athletics. Engaging in sports is harsh on the body and can often lead to injuries in both the short and long term. With Sports Massage I can enhance your performance and prolong your sports career by helping to prevent injury, reduce pains and swelling in your body, relax your mind, increase your flexibility, and dramatically improve your recovery rates. Sports Massage is also highly effective in aiding the rapid recovery of an athlete from an injury by encouraging greater kinesthetic awareness and in turn promoting the body’s natural immune function.
A feel good massage which is a very relaxing and therapeutic style of bodywork. With it I combine oils or lotion with an array of strokes such as rolling, kneading, and percussion to help improve you bodies circulation. The benefits of this type of bodywork can leave you much more relaxed while improving your sleep patterns, increasing blood circulation to your bodies tissues, improving mental clarity, and providing endorphin release which can greatly reduce pain levels and simply leave you feeling great.
Pregnancy Massage is a form of bodywork designed specifically for pregnant women.
Pregnancy is a time in which a woman’s body endures tremendous stress due to dramatic physical, mental, and emotional changes. Using various techniques specifically for the new mother, with Pregnancy Massage I can help alleviate discomforts experienced throughout the pregnancy. The benefits are profound, including emotional support, the reduction of joint pain due to extra weight and postural imbalance, improved breathing and relaxation, and relief from uncomfortable digestive issues.
